Meet fellow railway enthusiasts
Our regular meetings are a chance to run trains, work on the Society’s layouts and spend time with fellow railway enthusiasts. Whether you want to lend a hand or simply see what we do, you will receive a warm welcome.
Build, operate and learn
You do not need years of experience or an extensive collection to join. Our members range from newcomers taking their first steps in the hobby to experienced modellers with a wealth of knowledge to share.
There are plenty of ways to become involved, including operating trains, building layouts, creating scenery, working with electronics and researching the real railway. You can contribute as much or as little as suits you.
Explore our railway library
Membership gives you access to the Society’s collection of railway and modelling books. It is a useful resource whether you are researching a particular railway, planning a layout or simply looking for fresh inspiration.
Just as importantly, you can draw upon the practical experience of other members. Advice, ideas and the occasional spirited debate are never in short supply.
Members’ sales and second-hand finds
Members may also have opportunities to buy surplus, second-hand and donated railway items offered through the Society. It is a good way to find useful additions for a layout or collection while helping equipment find a new home among fellow enthusiasts.
