Wellington (Salop) is a 00 gauge Code 75 model railway inspired by the real station at Wellington in Shropshire. Rather than being an exact scale replica, the layout is a semi-authentic adaptation, aiming to capture the character, operating potential and railway atmosphere of the prototype.
The layout was originally built as a modular railway, allowing it to be transported, assembled and operated in sections. This modular approach shaped both the physical design and the way the station scene was compressed, with the key features of Wellington retained while making the layout practical for exhibition and club use.
Operationally, the layout offers a good mix of passenger and goods activity, reflecting the busy nature of a real British station rather than simply presenting a scenic display. Its use of 00 gauge track with Code 75 rail gives it a finer, more realistic appearance while still supporting reliable operation.
